Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour victory, took control to force a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a close third set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
